The file name is used to specify the root of a series of media files. The file name defaults to the document name. The exact file names that are created depend on the root (document) name, the extension, and a file number.
When you want to save a history of files, SiteCam lets you save a number of images to disk. If you check Rename Files, each time a picture is taken, the older files are renamed so that image 1 is always the most recent file, image 2 is the next recent, and so forth. Rename Files should be checked in most cases.
Each file is given a numerical suffix with a leading number of zeros, depending on the number of images you save. Given the example where your document and root name is "view", and your image type and extension is jpg, the following file names would be created:
Files to Save |
File names created |
1 |
view.jpg |
2-9 |
view1.jpg through view9.jpg |
10-99 |
view01.jpg through view99.jpg |
100-999 |
view001.jpg through view999.jpg |
1000- |
view0001.jpg through view9999.jpg |
Archive Mode
The archive mode lets you save months of images into subdirectories with unique file names. Each file name can have date/time elements. This is useful if you want to capture images over a period of time, saving each image with a date/time stamp.
The following substitutions will be made:
<D> day of the month 1 thru 31
<DD> two digit day of the month 01 thru 31
<MO> month 01...12
<YY> year 97, 98, 99, 00, ...
<YYYY> year 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, ...
<SS> seconds past the minute 00 thru 59
<M> minutes past the hour 0 thru 59
<MM> minutes past the hour 00 thru 59
<H> hour of the day 0 thru 23
<HH> two digit hour of the day 00 thru 23
<DAY> day of the week (Monday...Sunday)
<MONTH> month of the year (January...December)
As many substitutions can be used as necessary. Generally you want to limit the number of files per sub-folder to fewer than 500, so that Mac OS Finder performance is not affected. However, more or fewer files can be placed in each subdirectory.
If you need to place your file into a particular directory so that your web server can access them, you need to specify the directory where each file will be saved. If you leave this unspecified, the files will be saved in the same directory as the SiteCam application.
